Archival Framing Instructions
For works on paper
- Backup print on archival rag board. o Mount print on backing using acid free Japanese hinges.
- Overmat using equal margins of 2 ½” for top, bottom and sides. Show bottom matter: signature, numbers, title.
- Bevel four insides of overmat and color bevels to match the color of molding.
- Glaze with UV acrylic.
- Frame with 2 ½” wide at top and sides Leave room at bottom for signature, numbers and title o Add wooden molding of customers’ selection.
- Paper the back of the frame.
- Install two screw eyes plus wire at rear of frame.
For works on canvas
- Measure and miter the stretcher bars.
- Assemble stretcher bars with nails and glue.
- Nail plywood triangles at corners of stretcher.
- Use plyers to assemble art to stretcher with glue and brads.
- Select wooden frame o Fit stretched art into frame.
- Paper and wire to rear of frame.
